Messages Limit

WhatsApp API limits are based on a tier system, and the number of users a business can message in a day determines the tier. For example, Tier 1 allows a business to send messages to 1,000 unique customers in a 24-hour period, while Tier 3 allows 100,000 customers. Businesses can upgrade to the next tier if their quality rating is not low, and they have sent messages to a cumulative amount of users within a 7-day period.

Tier 1: Allows a business to send messages to 1,000 unique customers in a 24-hour period

Tier 2: Allows a business to send messages to 10,000 unique customers in a 24-hour period

Unverified businesses: Can only message 250 unique contacts in a 24-hour period

Verified businesses: Can message to 1,000, 10,000, 100,000, or unlimited unique contacts in a 24-hour period

For example, if a business sends a message to more than 2,000 recipients in 7 days, and has a good reputation, they will automatically be upgraded to tier 2. The business must send their daily limit of messages consecutively for two days at a minimum to move to the next tier.

Starting Nov 1st 2023, Meta Business Verification is no longer required to increase your WhatsApp Business API Messaging Limits.

You can increase your daily WhatsApp messaging limit from 250 to 1,000 messages/day without Meta business verification.

Here’s how you can do it:

  • Send messages to 1,000 unique contacts in a rolling 30-day period.

  • Maintain a high-quality rating of your sent messages.
